In this lab we set out to verify whether the equations for impulse were correct.
To do this we ran a experiment which allowed us to use the data from the experiment to solve for impulse in two different ways so that we could compare the result.
Are experiment we conducted was having a cart attached to a string on a pulley with a weight of 5 grams attached. This weight and pulley system was used so that a constant force due to gravity would be exerted on the cart. We then let the cart go and using data collected from a motion sensor found velocity to calculate impulse and time.

Equations used:
J = (0.005kg*9.8m/s) *29sec = 0.1421(kg*(m/s^2))
J = (.250*0.4572)-(.250*0) = 0.1291
Percent difference = 9.15%
While the percent difference isn't very good we still think we properly verified the data as it was still very close. Some sources of uncertainty that cause this data discrepancy is due to interference and other issues causing the motion sensor to not read perfectly. Along with this unaccounted for friction and air resistance although adding a very minimal change could have been factors in causing the difference in the data.
